The guestrooms at Winterham combine classic furnishings with twenty-first century conveniences. Built in the Jeffersonian tradition, each 16' x 20' room has a queen-sized master bed, private bath, cable TV, and views of the beautiful surrounding countryside. Our bed and breakfast is designed to meet all your lodging needs while traveling in Virginia. We have a variety or rooms to pick from, each with its own style and charm.
The New Market Cadet Room commemorates the builder's son, Thomas Garland Jefferson, who died of wounds sustained during the battle of New Market, at age 17. He is the icon whose photo you often encounter in VMI's promotional literature. The military theme is enhanced by soldier prints and 19th century photographs. This room features a queen foam-topped mattress, an inviting private bath and sitting area, cable TV, bar refrigerator and remote controlled gas-log fireplace. The room is completed by restful pine forest and sunset views.

The Princess Amelia Room hearkens back to Amelia County's 1734 origins when it was named after Royalty (daughter of King George II). This room is decorated with French costume prints and other 18th century images. The Princess Amelia Room features a queen canopy bed, lovely private bath and sitting area, cable TV and remote-controlled coal-look fireplace. This room offers restful pine forest and sunset views.

The Jefferson Suite is our finest luxury unit, with an ornate, hand-carved, queen bed and period furnishings. This suite hosts a luxury bath with an Ultramasseur air jet Jacuzzi, double shower/steam room, French bidet and twin pedestal sinks. Also included is a separate sitting room with full-sized bed, cable TV, and refrigerator. Both rooms have remote-controlled gas-log fireplaces as well as stunning lake and nursery views.

The Garden Terrace Suite sleeps up to 8 people. This is a spacious, secluded, family-friendly suite with home-style comforts: Two bedrooms, sitting/dining room with queen sofa bed, two rollaway beds, kitchenette/laundry, private tub/shower bath, private entrances and covered brick-lined patio (Garden Terrace). A home away from home. Children under 12 years of age must stay here, though free of extra charge.

The Lake Cottage The Lake Cottage Suite is the ultimate in privacy, independence, and luxury. This separate cottage near the manor home is perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. It features a separate sitting room, spa/steam/shower, and a private covered porch overlooking a 14 acre lake and extensive nursery plantings.
Corporate Rates for a two night or longer stay are available upon request Sunday through Thursday (except holidays). We recommend that you book the Lake Cottage or Garden Terrace Suite for longer stays, since both have private entrances that will permit you to come and go at will, even should the main manor house be locked.
The interior of the home and cottage are smoke-free and great care has been taken to reduce allergens.
Reservation and Cancellation Policies
- Please make reservations as far in advance as possible
- No charge if cancellation is made at least 10 days in advance. Special event weekends; Longwood/ Hampton-Sydney Graduation, etc. are not refundable
- Credit card taken as security, but not charged until you arrive, unless you default.
- Payment by personal check, cash or credit card.
- Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. and check-out is before 11 a.m.
- No smoking, pets or open flames inside. No hard liquor; wine and beer in moderation.
- Children under age 12 must stay in the Garden Terrace Suite.
